Uppingham School has the highest ambitions for science education, and our aspirations mean we now have an exciting opportunity for a new Head of Physics to play a key role in making Uppingham a hub of innovation for science education.
Based in stunning, state-of-the-art laboratories within an award winning Science Centre, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and development of Physics teaching at Uppingham, ensuring a teaching culture in which pupils of all ages and aptitudes are enthused, inspired, nurtured, challenged, and supported.
You will also play an active role in the Science Faculty leadership team, regularly meeting with the Head of Chemistry, the Head of Biology and the Head of Science to ensure collaborative and impactful cross-faculty initiatives are supported and successful.
Physics is one of the highest achieving departments at GCSE and Pre U in recent years, helping pupils of all abilities to enjoy and succeed in their Physics studies. The department has an active Sixth Form committee, a broad-reaching lecture programme and an Oxbridge preparation group.
If you are an outstanding teacher and visionary leader who can build a rapport with pupils and guide, support and appraise a team of teachers to ensure excellence in the teaching of Physics we would be delighted to hear from you.
