The role

As an Evening Library Assistant, you will assist with the effective delivery of library services on your designated site and will be instrumental in contributing to the development and delivery of high quality customer-focused services at the University by providing assistance to all students and ensuring its effective and timely delivery.

Library Assistants participate in front-line services and administrative duties including support for self-issue systems, IT and printing. You will assist users with directional and initial information enquiries; including the use of the library catalogue, electronic information resources and participate in roaming support. You will also be required to participate in shelving activities and demonstrate an understanding of manual handling guidelines, which will be required when lifting heavy items.

Your profile

You will have experience of providing high-level student facing services and administrative support, as well as proven experience in communicating across all levels of student and staff profiles. You will have experience of drafting content for service information and guidance. You will have a good understanding of the services for students in the University, and be able to provide verbal and written guidance to students and staff on matters related to student support. The ability to effectively manage your workload and prioritise conflicting demands is crucial, as is the ability to work within a busy team.
