The role

This role is a fixed term appointment to cover Sabbatical leave. The post holder will deliver inspiring and challenging teaching to full and part time MA Drawing students, through a variety of teaching methods such as lecturers, seminars, group and 1:1 tutorials, visits to galleries and museums and other locations of interest. As well as this, you will provide occasional delivery to other Postgraduate students at Wimbledon.

The post holder will take on the responsibility of Course Leader, undertaking the associated administration and quality assurance related to the delivery of specified unit(s), and monitoring and supporting the students during the Autumn term.

The role will require close and productive working relationships with other Fine Art and postgraduate staff, the Programme Director for Fine Art and other subject staff to ensure subject relevance and currency.

The MA Drawing course promotes drawing for a purpose. It focuses on process, ideas and cross-disciplinary dialogues that centre on communicating ideas to an audience, client or user. The course critically looks at the potential of drawing to communicate, explain and propose ideas. Our students explore a range of strategies, materials and technologies, with a view to defining a personal methodology for drawing.

Your profile

You will have a degree and postgraduate qualification in a related subject area, and preferably a recognised teaching qualification. You will have knowledge of the theories and current discourses relating to Drawing, will understand the issues relating to theory, practice and research in fine art education.

You will have experience of teaching at MA or degree level, preferably in the Drawing / Fine Art area, and will have experience of assessment and providing constructive verbal and written feedback.

You will be an excellent communicator with a demonstrable ability to contribute positively to the Programme and postgraduate teams, as well as contributing to the wider Fine Art, Wimbledon and UAL communities.
