St Mary’s School Hampstead (300 pupils on roll) is a Catholic Preparatory School educating girls to the age of 11 and boys to age 7 which was founded in 1871 and has been at the heart of Hampstead for over 100 years. Location: Hampstead, London

St Mary’s is a very successful Catholic Preparatory School (300 on roll) based within the heart of Hampstead. The school has a warm, happy and vibrant atmosphere fostered through excellent and committed staff, Governors and Trustees.

As our Bursar, you will be a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, with primary responsibility for leading on all governance matters, in addition to finances, HR and premises management. You will manage our enthusiastic and able non-teaching support team of six.

Whether you’re an experienced Bursar / School Business Manager, or looking to be promoted into such a role, you will offer:

  • proven school governance knowledge;
  • accounting experience (budgets & statutory);
  • a working knowledge of HR;
  • management experience.

Excellent organisational and communications skills; initiative; a hands-on approach and a proven track record of seeing projects through to completion will all be key, as will an empathy with the values and ethos of this Catholic family oriented school.

Outline Pay and Conditions
The role as Bursar is full-time and the post will be a permanent one subject to satisfactory completion of your six month probationary period. The successful candidate will be based at the school premises, the address of which is:

The school is well-served by public transport, including being a short walk from Hampstead, Finchley Road and Swiss Cottage Underground Stations.The remuneration package is highly competitive, with basic salary negotiable depending upon experience. This salary will be reviewed annually.
