University of the Arts London: Specialist Technician (Learning and Teaching) Knit

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a fashion/textile knit professional to work with highly creative and inventive students in an exciting environment, where you will be nurturing the talents of future designers and passing on your own expertise and knowledge to a new generation.

Our workshop is open to both BA and MA Fashion and Textiles students with varying levels of experience and skills, making this a particularly demanding but rewarding role.

You will help them realise their designs by supporting them in the safe use of equipment, demonstrating techniques and processes using domestic, Dubied knitting machines, advising on materials.

Other tasks will include maintaining equipment, creating teaching and learning materials and assisting with the ordering of materials and building good relationships with suppliers and contractors.

Your profile

Ideally a Fashion/Textile knit graduate with an industry, teaching or technical background, you will have a sound grasp of Dubied knitting machines and Domestic machines and hand knitting techniques.

Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of health an safety awareness will be vital and an interest in hand knitting. Interest and experience of the Stoll machine would be an asset.
