Competition and Markets Authority: Head of Governance
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is seeking a Head of Governance to support the Board in ensuring that the CMA fulfills its statutory duties and functions and that the principles of excellent corporate governance are observed, enabling the organisation to be effective in its aim to promote competition for the benefit of consumers, both within and outside the UK.
As Head of Governance, you will support the Director of Governance and Performance, CEO and the Board by providing advice, guidance, intellectual leadership and quality assurance on issues of governance to the CMA. Specifically, this will include providing advice on conflicts of interest, drafting letters, understanding and writing terms of reference and attending Senior Leadership team meetings. You will also ensure the efficient and smooth running of all boards and committees, including providing strategic oversight of their medium and long-term agendas, managing the provision of accurate, timely advice/briefings to the Chair and CEO and following up on progress where necessary.
The successful candidate will offer:
- Experience of working in governance, conflicts and internal audit, along with evidence of the ability to act in a highly confidential manner and exercise complete discretion
- Evidence of outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with proven ability to operate with Chief Executive/Board level stakeholders
- Experience of leading and developing staff in a supportive manner, ideally in a project or administrative team
