Role Information
IPSA was set up in 2009 under the Parliamentary Standards Act to design and manage a new scheme for MPs’ expenses and to pay the salaries of MPs and their staff. The new scheme, which came into effect on 7th May 2010, is based on the reimbursement of expenses rather than the paying of allowances. It marks a significant break from the past.
As Director of Operations, reporting to the Chief Executive, you will oversee the operations function to ensure that it delivers high-quality, cost-effective and value-for-money services and look for ways to continually improve performance.
As a key member of our new leadership team, you will have the opportunity to help shape the organisation and contribute to IPSA’s work in restoring public confidence in the way MPs are funded.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the management and development of the core IPSA business processes – which will include paying MPs’ salaries, validating and paying MPs’ allowances, and providing information on allowances to MPs and the public.
For this high-profile role, you will need to be a team player with well-developed leadership skills and excellent communications skills. Equally important is:
• Your experience at a senior management level which demonstrates your successful track record of continually improving operational and quality standards, client service and value for money.
• Your experience in planning, managing and achieving strategic change: the role calls for innovation, and you will have the authority and resilience to bring about change.
• The ability to build excellent working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

Salary: £80,000 to £85,000 + Benefits
