Vacancies Introduction
Thank you for your interest in the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). The Department was created by the Prime Minister in October 2008, bringing together responsibility for energy and climate change for the first time. The creation of the new Department reflects the growing importance of these issues and the close links between them. It is a highly significant move, which has generated great interest in the UK and internationally. We will be recruiting to over 100 posts over the next six months ranging from senior management roles to administrative levels. The majority of the roles will be offered on a permanent basis, though some are available on a fixed-term basis. All the roles will be based in our offices just off Whitehall, London SW1.
DECC is a small Department, but it deals with issues of global importance and has a highly complex budget of almost £3 billion a year. Our goals include reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the UK, securing global commitments which prevent dangerous climate change, and ensuring secure energy supplies. Achieving these goals is a huge and exciting policy and delivery challenge.
As a new department we are committed to developing policies and procedures that promote equality in the workplace. Our aim is that equality and diversity is integral to our work, so it is something we demonstrate every day.
