Vacancy Grade 7 (Range 10) Policy Manager based in the Dept of Energy & Climate Change, 3 Whitehall Place
 
The Job
You'll be taking a leading role on major high-profile issues, with your role likely to include a substantial element of project management. You are likely to possess expertise within your policy area. You will usually report direct to a Senior Civil Servant and have autonomy to manage your section on a day-to-day basis

Although we are recruiting to a range of posts at this level which may present different challenges, we are looking for a common set of core skills.
 
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Essential
• Translates strategy into clear and meaningful objectives for self and staff;
• Written and verbal communication is clear, structured and convincing for the relevant audience; 
• Is astute and skilled at managing the dynamics within complex teams (including external agencies, external departments);
• Applies judgment and makes recommendations with the wider implications of their actions;
• Effectively combines a range of business information to identify key issues and risks – makes swift and well judged decisions;
• Proactively creates, maintains and promotes relationships with stakeholders;
• Focuses on results – establishes challenging and achievable objectives; and 
• Makes effective use of project management skills.
 
Desirable
• Detailed knowledge of an area of policy with the energy sector or climate change agenda.

Salary
The salary scale for Grade 7 (Range10) starts at a minimum of £43,554 to a target rate of £53,034

Type of Appointment
This appointment is offered on a permanent basis, subject to the completion of a probationary period.
