 The JobThese roles are ideally suited to individuals with a proven track record in practical policy analysis, development and research. You'll be working on high-profile issues and shaping government policy. Every day will bring a new challenge using your intellectual skills to develop solutions to difficult problems.
 Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Essential • The ability to manage and develop a team;
• The ability to quickly get to the heart of an issue and make sound decisions through analytical skills and use of evidence;
• The ability to think creatively and develop innovative policy solutions;
• The ability to persuade and influence colleagues across Whitehall;
• The ability to develop effective and strong working relationships with interested parties outside government;
• The ability to manage relations with colleagues to deliver results; and
• Some knowledge of project and programme management techniques.
 Desirable• The ability to think strategically when making decisions and taking action; and
• The knowledge of the UK energy sector and / or climate change agenda.

The salary scale for HEO (Range 8) starts at a minimum of £27,070 to a target rate of £31,624.

Type of Appointment
This appointment is offered on a permanent basis, subject to the completion of a probationary period.
