Vacancy AO (Range 4) Administration Officer based in the Dept of Energy & Climate Change, 3 Whitehall Place
The Job
As an Administrative Officer, you will have a range of administrative duties, such as dealing with letters and keeping records and statistics. Some officers work with the public, for example, dealing with enquiries and giving advice. You may supervise teams of other staff.
Day-to-day, you may be involved in the following:

• Handling incoming correspondence, deciding work priorities and drafting letters in response to queries;• Examining paperwork, such as claim forms or accounts to check their validity, and use computers to record and analyse data and compile statistics;• Monitoring budgets; and• Organising meetings.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Essential
Essential
• Good written and oral communication skills;
• The ability to prioritise, plan and control your own work;
• You need to be numerate and understand budgets;
• The ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external contacts; and
• Knowledge of word-processing software and databases.
Desirable
• Some line management experience;
• Some research experience; and
• An interest in the energy sector or climate change.

Salary
The salary scale for AO (Range 4) starts at a minimum of £19,825 to a target rate of £21,285.
Type of Appointment
This appointment is offered on a permanent basis, subject to the completion of a probationary period.
